Welcome to Stonehenge Villa, New England, an ordinary little apartment occupied by four extraordinary guys.

There’s Arnold, the neurotic, hyperactive ringleader of the group; the schizophrenic Barry, giving pro-golf lessons at $1.23 an hour; child-like Lucien, who believes a Spiderman tie and the Alphabet Song will get him through anything; and doughnut obsessed Norman, trying to woo Sheila at the community disco. So long as she doesn’t steal his keys.

Under the supervision of their caring but increasingly burnt-out social worker Jack, the guys are simply in search of the basics - love, acceptance and the occasional sweet pastry. But why is it that every intrusion from the outside world is bullying, humiliating, or in Barry’s case, violent? Why do we champion our hopes and desires on the outside, but lock away and condemn others within when they show theirs?

THE BOYS NEXT DOOR offers us poignant and hilarious glimpses into the daily lives of the four friends, and perhaps a glimpse or two into the truths of our own.
