Note from Carl Bradley, director of The Boys Next Door, by Tom Griffin. Here are the details on the auditions for the Nagoya Players winter production of Tom Griffin's heart warming, and very funny play THE BOYS NEXT DOOR. The action in THE BOYS NEXT DOOR centres around the lives of four mentally handicapped men, living in a communal residence under the supervision of a social worker. CHARACTERS I will be casting parts for SEVEN MEN and SIX WOMEN. The characters are: MALE MALE (supporting) FEMALE FEMALE (supporting) Note: All supporting characters have dialogue. THE AUDITION DATES The auditions will be held on two days- SUNDAY JULY 27th and SUNDAY AUGUST 3rd. The auditions will be further broken down into FOUR SLOTS, two on each day, as follows. SLOT ONE: SUNDAY JULY 27th 2:00pm until 5:00pm SLOT THREE: SUNDAY AUGUST 3rd 2:00pm until 5:00pm All those interested in auditioning for THE BOYS NEXT DOOR, please send an e-mail to Carl Bradley at: enonsinger (at-mark) yahoo.co.jp In the e-mail, please write your name and the audition slot you wish to sign up for. Please note that audition slots are limited to 12 people for each slot, so please e-mail to reserve your places ASAP! THE AUDITION PROCESS Please visit the following link to download the scene selections from THE BOYS NEXT DOOR that will be used in the auditions. They are in WORD format. If you are having trouble accessing the files for whatever reason, please contact either me at: enonsinger (at-mark) yahoo.co.jp LINK TO THE FOLDER WITH THE FIVE SCENE SELECTIONS (Yahoo! ID required). I will just quickly go over what you should expect at the audition. *For roughly the first half of the audition I will be auditioning people in pairs. Here you will read together from a scene selection of your choice from the link above. So feel free to choose a couple of scenes you like (it's best to be prepared!), print them out if you can, and work on them in advance. Then when you get to the audition space, feel free to talk to the others at the audition and find an Arnold, a Shelia, or whoever you like to pair up with. Alternatively, you can just wait for me to pair you up myself! *For the second half of the audition, I will bring you back in in pairs again, only this time I will mix and match actresses and actors up and have you read a different part with a different person than you were with before. For this reason it is perhaps a good idea for you to familiarise yourself will all the scene selections in the link above. All those attending the audition are asked to stay for the full duration of their audition slot. LOCATION The auditions will be held at the Takami Community Centre in Ikeshita. Please look at the following link for directions. It's about a 10 minute walk from Ikeshita station, and very easy to find. You will all be notified immediately if there is a change in the venue. MAP TO TAKAMI COMMUNITY CENTRE Directions to the Takami Community Centre: Go out of Ikeshita station exit one and turn right. You'll see a branch ofMr Donuts on the corner. Go down the street passing Mr Donuts on your right. Keep walking. You'll pass a Circle K on your left, and thenlater, on your right another Circle K and a school with a Cherryblossom painting on the wall. Soon, you'll get to a supermarket on yourright. On the left just opposite, there's a little bus stop. In frontof it is a little building called the Takami Community Centre (高見コミュニティセンター). Remember- this audition is open to everyone, regardless of experience. As we are always on the lookout for fresh talent, new members to the group are especially welcomed to join. This script is a lot of fun, and I think we are all going to have a great time working on it. With that in mind, remember the most important thing at the audition is to relax and have fun! Just get those e-mails to me as soon as possible and reserve yourself a space at an audition slot! I'm looking forward to seeing you all there. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Carl E-mail us at contact@nagoyaplayers.info for more information. |
